Homeschool

Homeschooling families have the unique flexibility to pick and choose educational programs for their children. The Rancocas Nature Center offers four types of opportunities:

Current Public Programs

We consistently offer Preschool programs September through May/June
 Woodsy - any homeschool families can sign up

School Field Trip
A homeschool group can book a field trip

Offsite Program

We come to you and do a program where your group meets

Homeschool Series

Science based courses that include problem solving and/or art/literacy!

These are booked at times convenient for your homeschool group and our educator(s).
A minimum of 10 students are required
(parent/guardian participation required if ages 3-5).

 Run as 5 or 6 sessions of 1.5 hours (ages 3-6) or 2 hours (ages 7+) per session
Costs: 5 week course - $60/student, 6-week course - $72/student 


Courses Available 

Nature and Art - (3+ and the material would be adapted to the group age range) creating art with nature as the inspiration and focus

Animal Explorers - (3+ and the material would be adapted to the group age range) each week focused on a specific animal or animal group

ABC Nature Journaling - (ages 4-6, Parent/Guardian participation required) custom designed seasonal letter of the day journal pages for early writers to trace letters, color drawings, and add their own extras as their ability allows

Nature Journaling - Poetry (ages 7+) using nature journaling as inspiration to write poems - different form of poem at each session

Nature Journaling - Short Stories (ages 8+) using nature journaling as inspiration to write a short story step by step over the course

Nature Story Trekkers - (ages 8-12) we travel through the story while exploring the nature, the history, the relationships and the art within an illustrated chapter book from our curated list. A copy of the book(s) will be required for the course via private purchase or borrow from the library.

Science Outdoors - (ages 7+ and the material would be adapted to the group age range) general mix of natural sciences based on the current season including observations and experiments 

Young Naturalist- (ages 7+ and the material would be adapted to the group age range) general mix of conservation efforts, they learn the why and how of doing things to help nature and doing class specific projects on the nature preserve

Field and Stream Exploration (ages 8-12) - observations and experiments in our meadow and water habitats

Discover NJ (ages 8 to 12) geology/land formation, original settlers, plants and animals, off-site field trip
